Located in the Château Lumière, the Spiral Staircase takes Lila to her room. 

Here is the description from the book: 

“As I slowly climb the stairs my hand glides along the copper banister that winds like a vine towards the light above. At each twist of the spiral there is a door—some are carved, some painted, some covered in brass filigree. Each has a distinct symbol: a rose, a snake, a lotus, a butterfly, or sacred geometries,  ancient Greek, Egyptian, and Sanskrit words, or Aboriginal symbols. The doors are stunning to behold, gold and silver embellished with intricate designs. Ornate doors with intricately carved vines that transform into the bodies of men and women at all stages of life: newborns to corpses. I continue to climb upwards— the twist and the turn, the spiral upward. As I do, there is a hum, as though a thousand bees are making honey, the movement of their wings creating harmonic chords. The heights are dizzying. Finally, I stop at a door with a single eye shaped out of lapis, marble, and gold. Behind the single eye is a background field of seemingly infinite peacock feathers shimmering in the golden candlelight that lights the halls.”
